Job Description

Job Summary

Providing subject matter expertise to support the creation and delivery of project-level sustainability strategy in alignment with Lendlease sustainability framework and targets. This role is development related functional support across multiple project teams.

TheSustainability Manager, Developmentwill work directly with Development teams in Development and GDV Residential business units, in coordination with the Directors of Sustainability, Regional Head of Sustainability and key internal and external stakeholders.
TheSustainability Manager, Development, will act as a subject matterexpert, supporting,inspiring, andengaging developmentand business teams to achieve our ambitious sustainability targets. The position will focus on creating value by embedding environmental and social outcomes in alignment with Lendlease’s Sustainability framework and targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and driving sustainability strategies through strong engagement and collaboration with project teams, communicating data driven analysis to demonstrate opportunities, undertaking research and innovating to demonstrate ongoing leadership insustainability.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting detailed analysis of project sustainability strategy and initiatives, including in response to regulatory & municipal landscape and specific client & partner needs
Facilitate the identification of risks, opportunities and development of social and environmental strategies aligned with Lendlease’s sustainability framework, and to achieve our targets.
Lead the preparation and regular review of Sustainability Management Plans to track progress towards project and business sustainability targets
Manage multiple stakeholder relationships
Oversee the work of consultants providing third party certifications, energy analysis, life cycle analysis, carbon accounting and other relevant sustainability scopes of work engaged by project teams
Develop RFPs for sustainability consultants and manage contracting as required by project teams
Guide project level mitigation response to Climate Related Risk Assessments
Lead and manage the preparation of entries to environmental reports and benchmarks (e.g. GRESB).
Manage and create case studies, and contribute to internal and external sustainability communication, messaging, and reporting.

TheSustainability Manager, Development, will represent Lendlease’s Development and Google Development Ventures Residential business unit both internally and externally (as appropriate), providing technical support on sustainability strategy, operations and projects in order to achieve continuous improvement and ongoing leadership as a subject matter expert.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

Support with the development of Development & GDV Residential sustainability strategies and business plans aligned to the Lendlease Sustainability Framework, targets and business unit drivers.
Assistance with the analysis of Due Diligence information during the pursuit/acquisition process.
General research (industry, sustainable products, sustainable services and competitor).
Generation and delivery of strategic messaging with support from internal communications teams.
Participation in external sustainability committees and working groups (as required).
Consolidation, analysis and communication of sustainability related data for the businesses to monitor performance and enable strategy development.
Lead environmental compliance requirements including data collation, data verification and operational control determinations, in addition to assisting the business to undertake, interpret and respond to climate related risk assessments.
Management of important sustainability related information such as grants, community initiatives, community programs, sustainability proposals.
Performance reviews of sustainabilityinitiatives/requirementsand subsequent feedback to the business.
General support to management and development teams.
Peer review of external consultants where employed to undertake sustainability related studies and independent assurance
Through best practice reporting and case studies, assist in demonstrating the financial benefits of the sustainability initiatives
Demonstrate collaboration and leadership with key stakeholders.

General Background and Minimum Requirements

Degree in Engineering, Construction, Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Property or relevant equivalent.
Sustainability professional accreditation, such as LEED AP.
5+ years’ experience in a sustainability role including industry experience/exposure highly desirable.
Exposure to building physics / energy analysis highly desirable
Exposure to building ratings such as LEED, WELL, FitWel.
Exposure to corporate sustainability reporting and benchmarks such as GRESB.
Exposure to the construction and/or property industry (preferred).
