Anticipated Hiring Range
$5,500 to $6,500 per month ($66,000.00 to $78,000 annually)

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager of Student Health Services (SHS), and with lead support from the Medical Lead, the Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of procedures requiring the ability to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Work assignments typically include receiving and preparing patients for radiologic exams; maintaining accurate records; preparing reports using computerized and automated systems, including electronic health records (EHR); picture archiving and communication system support (PACS); maintaining unit compliance with department and university policies; maintaining procedures and protocols for safety and quality assurance; maintaining the equipment and X-ray area; maintaining and calibrating equipment; maintaining supplies; actively supporting Clinic flow and patient management, as X-ray demand permits; and providing collegial and consultative support to other SHS staff.

Position Information
Radiologic Duties
Support patient understanding and comfort.
Perform wide variety of diagnostic procedures.
Verify and perform ordered X-rays, following the “as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA) principle, with requisite personal protective equipment.
Deliver quality roentgenograms and as needed X-ray studies.
Ensure digital systems record indicated images (using EHR and PACS).

Administrative Operations
Responsible for X-ray administrative tasks including safety, infection control, equipment maintenance, supplies, recordkeeping, and reporting.
Ensure reliable and secure records keeping and access, including input of patient information.
Ensure reliable record and information exchanges with contracted radiologist with existing systems.
Help keep information systems functioning and up to date.
Perform quality assurance practices and review as outlined in protocols, working to keep protocols up to date.
Ensures compliance with monitoring and regulations.
Recommends revisions of procedures, such as regarding patient scheduling, record keeping, and equipment use.
Participates in department working groups, in-service training, and accreditation.
When feasible, may respond to student calls to Clinic.
When feasible, may support student access to MediCal’s Family Pact program and/or student and staff understanding of student insurance options and opportunities.

Medical Services Support
If trained and/or certified, may support in-house laboratory work for students.
When feasible, may help with patient management, such as rooming or helping to ensure student connection with appropriate referrals.
When feasible, may serve as a patient attendant for indicated well-patient exams.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
Understands digital radiographic techniques, equipment, and technologies; has good understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biology; is proficient in standardized radiological clinical procedures, principles of radiation protection and the safety precautions required; has general knowledge of physics, electricity, and related physical sciences; proficient regarding industry standards and ethics pertaining to radiologic technology, and federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to radiology; Possesses knowledge of anatomy and the biological sciences; has general knowledge of electricity and related physical sciences as applied to X-rays; is proficient in commonly used radiologic techniques and medical unit or clinical procedures; understands health center administrative processes and procedures.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; two or more years of experience as a Certified Radiologic Technologist, experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge and ability to perform general diagnostic radiographic procedures of body structures with high-quality results (or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities).

Preferred Qualifications
2-5 years of experience in a college health service, or with adolescent or young adult age groups.
General knowledge of X-ray work.
General knowledge of California Radiation Control Regulations.
General knowledge of policies of hazardous waste treatment in the X-ray department.
Phlebotomy training or experience.

Required License/Certification
As a condition of employment and continued employment, must be able to maintain strict adherence to The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) standards.
Valid license as a Certified Radiologic Technologist issued by the California State Department of Health Services.

Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
