About the Role
As the manager of Rocket Lawyer’s Data Engineering and Database teams, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of key business metrics that drive a highly dynamic data-driven product development environment and taking complete ownership of all databases as well. Your Data Team is responsible for the building out the data pipeline, gathering internal and external data, generating batched and real-time metrics, managing and monitoring streaming jobs, and implementing analytical tools to drive strategic decision making. Your Database team is responsible to ensure all databases are managed effectively and efficiently with all business continuity processes in place.
Technical skills needed:
BS or MS in computer science
Expertise in Java and/or Python
Expertise in building and executing complex Core SQL, Hive queries.
Must have delivered and supported production data warehouses
Requires experience in the analysis, design and development of Data Warehouse solutions
Strong knowledge of Airflow and at least one of Snowflake/Hive
Architectural and data schema design
Hands on implementation of batch and streaming data and ETL jobs.
Develop analytical environment using internal and external reporting tools
Integrate internal and external data with warehouse and external tools
Expertise in one or more of Postgres, MYSQL, and MS SQL databases
Nice-To-Have but not required skills:
Knowledge of moving from Hive to Snowflake is a big plus.
Experience in Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes
Stream processing experience (Storm, Kafka Streams)
Experience with HBase, Pig, Redis, NoSQL DBs, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform
Experience in managing databases supporting large applications in production
Working with development teams to ensure DB schemas, indexes are properly designed and queries are optimized.
Working knowledge of Linux
