The Coffee Program Director leads the implementation of the Coffee value chain component of Maximizing Opportunities in Coffee and Cacao in the Americas Program (MOCCA). The Program, a 5 year, $36.4M regional project builds the key agricultural sectors of coffee and cocoa in 5 countries, directly improving the livelihoods of over 120,000 farmers. The Coffee Program Director will oversee coffee market system development efforts including: partnering with market system actors to train over 60,000 coffee farmers; augmenting coffee breeding & agronomic research; strengthening coffee nurseries, facilitating agricultural lending; building the capacity of national coffee institutions; and strengthening platforms to support rehab & renovation efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agroforestry, agricultural economics, business administration, or a related field with
- 7+ years of progressively wider responsibility in managing agriculture, agribusiness or related program areas, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of above-mentioned experience
- Demonstrated project experience overseeing strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting preferably with large project teams implementing diverse activities involving multiple partners in different countries
- Regional coffee industry knowledge and experience of successful design and implementation of coffee development programs
- Experience interacting effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts and other key stakeholders, in building consensus, and in developing and managing mutually beneficial partnerships that leverage resources to create greater impact
- Experience leading components of USDA, USAID, or other bilateral-funded projects highly desirable, particularly in a fast-paced multicultural environment in Latin America
Required Languages - Working proficiency in Spanish and English is required
